Welcome

Sarah Louisa HOW - Apr 1901
Hello and welcome to the HOW family tree.

This family has had its origins traced back to the county of Kent, England in the 16th century (see Abraham HOW).
There are over 300 How's in the tree and they are located in both the UK and the USA (Missouri and Minnesota mainly).

If you notice inaccuracies or missing information please email me familytree@justinhow.com with any updates you may have.

A big THANK YOU to Kaye [How] Wachter for the marvellous book titled "You Could Have Been a Hill" from which I have taken various extracts, see the books introduction HERE, and to Norman How for the exhaustive research into the HOW family tree on which much of this is based. Unfortunately neither is with us now and so I dedicate this site to their memory.

Searching
Search for people using the search box up in the top right of this website.
You can fill in First Name and/or Last Name. You can also just put in part of a name and it will find any matches.
e.g. J in the First Name box will find any people in the family tree with a name such as Jane, Justin, John etc.
There is also an Advanced Search feature up in the top right which allows for far more specific searching.

Have You Updates?
If you are emailing me with info about someone you want added/amended, it is important the information is accurate and please include as many of the following as possible:

  • Full maiden name including all middle names
  • Birth, marriage and deceased dates and places, as appropriate.
  • Relationship to others in the family tree.
  • Picture of person and/or certificates
  • Where you got the information from.

On this website there is a "Suggest" button that you can use to quickly send me some info about that person. It is very easy and very quick.

Contact Me
If you have any questions or comments about the information on this site, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Privacy
I take the issues of privacy very seriously. Only the information of people who are deceased can be seen by anyone.
The details of living people are restricted to initials and surname, but NO dates, NO photos, NO addresses, NO maps etc.
So anyone who wishes to see more will need to register on the site, and only when I have approved their registration will they be able to see the details associated with living people. Lastly I do not keep full addresses of any living people. Hopefully this will allay any fears you may have over the information kept on this site.
If you still have issues about any particular person, email me and I can mark them as private.
